Meet Acmena smithii, a fantastic low-maintenance shrub that's perfect for hedges or topiaries! This compact beauty produces gorgeous pink new growth, followed by stunning cream to white flowers in summer. The real showstopper, though, is its abundance of white to dark red or purple berries - yum! When it comes to size, Acmena smithii can grow between 3-5 metres tall, depending on the variety. But don't worry if you're short on space - it's actually quite happy in sunny to fully shaded spots. One thing to keep in mind: this plant loves moist, well-drained soil and a wide range of soils. It's also super easy-going when it comes to pests and diseases - just occasional aphids and sooty mould might show up. Just one teensy caveat: the berries can get a bit slippery when they fall off, so regular tidying up is a good idea!
